Privacy policy

Ember’s is a small publisher of digital books. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect when you buy a book, what we do with it, and how to reach us about it.

What we collect

When you buy a book, our payment provider sends us your email address and the details of your order. We keep the order itself: what you bought, the amount paid in Canadian dollars, the date and time, the order reference, and the links that let you download your books.

Why we keep it

To deliver the files you paid for, to send your download link by email, to issue your receipt, to let you open your order again later, and to help you if something goes wrong. Nothing else.

What we never do

We never see or store your card details; the payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else is involved

Three services take part, and each one only receives what it needs to do its job: Stripe for the payment and the receipts, Resend for sending your delivery email, and Cloudflare for hosting the shop and storing the book files. Their own privacy policies govern what they do on their side.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require. Download links are temporary: they stop working after 72 hours, and a fresh one is made whenever you ask for it.

Cookies and your browser

The shop itself does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your basket lives in your own browser and disappears when you clear it. Stripe sets its own cookies on its payment pages, under its own policy.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete it. Write to us and it will be handled, without argument or delay.

Who is responsible

The person responsible for the protection of personal information at Ember’s can be reached at the address below. That is also the address to use for any question about this page.
